News Updates

THIS WEEK: October 23 - 30, 2023

All the Star Trek episodes in caves are featured in "Caves", the brand new Lower Decks episode that takes place in.. you've guessed it, a cave. The Nerdiest Prime crew do a deep dive on the episode as well as talk about the Star Trek episodes that are parodied and referenced in this episode, and that famous "Planet Hell" set on Stage 16 (or was it 18?)

THIS WEEK: October 15 - 21, 2023

Here at last is the trailer I edited for Lac Noir season 2, an amazing French-Canadian series inspired by “American Werewolf in London” et “Evil Dead“. It was fantastic to work with director Frédérik D’Amours! The series airs on October 26, 2023, on the Illico streaming service in Quebec!

Also, it’s a return to form for the Nerdiest Prime crew as they dissect and analyze the latest from Star Trek Lower Decks! “A Few Badgies More” sees the return of Badgie and Peanut Hamper while tackling metaphysical themes of omniscience and destiny. Will this merit the elusive 10/10 rating? We also discuss the final “Very Short Treks” and the need for good snacks!

THIS WEEK: September 18 - 23, 2023

In the cradle of the Internet, the Nerdiest Prime crew discuss and dissect the latest episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks! Boimler gets his first command, Captain Freeman reboots a 6-million-year-old computer and the rest of the lower deckers get hazed. Or do they? Alan's cat prances on his desk and Luckas wonders about this whole Lower Decks thing.

THIS WEEK: September 11 - 17, 2023

Join us for the reviews of Star Trek: Lower Decks’ newest offering, a double feature premiere: “Twovix” and “I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee”. There are deep cuts and nostalgia galore as the Nerdiest Prime crew dissects every moment of the episodes. Did Janeway actually kill Tuvix? Did Janeway actually stab a macrovirus? Did Janeway conceive salamander babies with her helmsman? Also, what's with Janeway!?

THIS WEEK: September 4 — 10, 2023

Ferengi balls control Picard's mind in a convoluted revenge plot. Flashbacks and delusions ensue to exposition a big chunk of Picard's backstory. The Nerdiest Prime crew analyze and dissect every detail, right down to the feasibility of the "Picard Maneuver". Set inertia dampeners to maximum, it's going to be a bumpy ride!

THIS WEEK: August 28 - September 3, 2023

There's nothing worse than a sex-crazed planet with an unforgiving capital punishment system. The Nerdiest Prime crew analyzes innuendos and gaping plot holes in this latest review of "Star Trek: The Next Generation"

THIS WEEK: September 26 - October 2, 2022

A brand new video comes to the Every James Bond YouTube Channel, "Never Say Never Again EON-Style", which is a dream come true for 007 fans. One of the chief complaints about the non-official James Bond thriller is the jazzy lackluster score. So, after asking you whether I should replace it with the Octopussy soundtrack or the A View To A Kill music, the votes are in and A View To A Kill has won! I've stripped away the old jazz music and replaced it with John Barry's awesome score.

Also, the fine folks at Movie Palette asked me to do a review of their movie-inspired abstract art. I received a movie palette for You Only Live Twice, and you can see my review here.

New videos are in post-production for the Protokino and Nerdiest Prime YouTube Channels: Se7en: Filming Locations is coming this week, and a new Star Trek: The Next Generation review for "Lonely Among Us". And of course, look for the next Every James Bond video this coming Friday.

THIS WEEK: September 19 - 25, 2022

The Diamonds Are Forever Filming Locations video is finally here! Filmed in Las Vegas and Amsterdam over the summer we delve deep into the places that were featured in the 1971 James Bond movie. Even after more than fifty years, a surprising number of locations remain untouched by time. The description for the video on YouTube provides links to Google Map markers that will show you the way if you want to visit these iconic locations yourself. My favorite locations were the Palm Downtown Cemetery, which looks exactly the same as it did in the movie, and the Pabco Gypsum Plant. In my mind, they're still recreating the moon landing in the storage dome.

A week wouldn't be complete without a new Every James Bond video, this one features every time James Bond throws his hat. Although most people wouldn't associate James Bond with hats in the same way that they would with, say, Indiana Jones, 007 is definitely a hat man. He wore the fedora in the first seven gun barrel sequences. Going back in the early sixties James Bond liked throwing his fedora onto the hat stand. It's a tradition that stayed with the series into the early eighties even though Roger Moore was never seen wearing a fedora. Even Daniel Craig does it once. See the video here.

I'm moving the releases of new Nerdiest Prime videos to Tuesday, the weekend is just getting too busy with Protokino and Every James Bond videos. The next review is for Strange New Worlds, Episode 8 "The Elysian Kingdom", coming to the YouTube Channel tomorrow. There's also a regular stream of Tiktok videos that feature the best of the best of our conversations @nerdiestprime.

THIS WEEK: September 12 - 18, 2022

The long-delayed review for Strange New Worlds Episode 1 (aptly titled "Strange New Worlds") was released yesterday on the Nerdiest Prime Channel, along with a brand-new Every James Bond video "Every Vilain's Lair". It was loads of fun to compile all the villain lairs, there are some really great ones. My favorite is the hollowed-out volcano lair in You Only Live Twice. The Nerdiest Prime crew filmed another review last night for Star Trek: The Next Generation's first Klingon-themed episode "Heart of Glory". There was some hilarious discussion about Geordi's VISOR and inconsistencies in the internal geography of the Enterprise. Although this review won't be coming to the channel until 2023, highlights will be featured on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts in the coming week.

The remnants of a rare hurricane hit Los Angeles on Friday, bringing some rain to the usually dry city. It was for me an opportunity not to be missed to film a Blade Runner Filming Locations video. A new batch of Filming Locations is coming to the Protokino Channel starting this week with Diamonds Are Forever (which was shot on location in Las Vegas AND Amsterdam!) and Fletch to coincide with the release of Confess, Fletch on Friday. I remember seeing Fletch in the theatres back in 1985, and it made an indelible impression on me.

Also starting this week I'll be reaching out to subscribers and inviting them to contribute ideas to include in the forthcoming Every James Bond video. Look for that video soon! Look forward to hearing from you.

THIS WEEK: September 5 - 11, 2022

A brand new review was released yesterday for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Episode 7 "The Serene Squall", the Nerdiest Prime crew debate whether or not this is the best episode of the season and talk about the return of Sybok! There's also a bonus review coming out this week on the Nerdiest Prime YouTube Channel for Strange New Worlds, episode 1 "Strange New Worlds". We got a bit behind on this one because we filmed reviews for episodes 1 to 3 all at once and it took some time to untangle them. We hope to share episodes 2 and 3 in the coming weeks as well as our regularly scheduled programming.

Also last week "Every Recurring Character" was posted to be a companion piece to the previous release "Every Repeat Actor" on the Every James Bond YouTube Channel. I plan on releasing YouTube shorts announcing the upcoming Every James Bond videos so that subscribers can make suggestions of clips and scenes.

I'm also working on the upcoming slate of Filming Location videos for the Protokino YouTube Channel. The Diamonds Are Forever video, which was shot on location in Las Vegas and Amsterdam, is coming soon. I continue to post regularly on TikTok and Instagram so be sure to check out Every James Bond, Nerdiest Prime and Protokino on those platforms.

THIS WEEK: August 29 - September 4, 2022

This week brings an all-new review for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach" (episode 6), which the Nerdiest Prime crew discusses in detail, and I regale my co-hosts with my own version of an MC Hammer dance (while sitting down). Surely not to be missed!

I've also added some funny discussion excerpts of our longer episode reviews on the Nerdiest Prime YouTube Channel under the playlist banner "Sweet Treks", so if you don't time for a full 30-minute review you can catch the highlights. Yesterday Alan, Namir, and I recorded our 18th Star Trek: The Next Generation review for "Homesoil". That's 38 reviews total (counting Star Trek: Picard and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) so far this year, with new reviews being released each Sunday until December 2022 (!)

A new video dropped on the Every James Bond Channel: "Every Repeat Character" which came to fruition when I noticed how often the series reused the same actors in different roles -- most prominently Charles Gray as Henderson and then Blofeld. I decided to go down that rabbit hole and find out how many actors have played more than one role and it was quite more than I thought. This video shows every one of them. The next video will be the reverse of that video: "Every Repeat Character". Look for that this coming Friday!

THIS WEEK: August 22 - 28, 2022

A new review video dropped on Friday as the Nerdiest Prime crew dissected and analyzed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, episode 5 "Spock Amok". Doing these reviews with my good friends (and fellow Trekkies) Alan O'Neill and Namir Ahmed is always the highlight of my week.

Nerdiest Prime also has a new website where you can view all our reviews, or listen to them as podcasts for that long drive home, or in my case, walking the dog. There's also new additions on the Nerdiest rime YouTube Channel (and Website). "Sweet Treks" are short little video hors-d'oeuvres that will amuse your senses and tease your intellect, you know, for those times when you don't have time for a full 25-minute video. These Sweet Treks can also be found on TikTok and Instagram, whatever your preferred viewing platform is.

Lastly is the latest Every James Bond video, "Air Travel" that showcases every time 007 has taken the plane. Lots of cool shots of airliners taking off and landing, as well as James Bond strolling coolly through an airport terminal. Check that out on Every James Bond's YouTube, TikTok or Instagram accounts.

This coming Friday another Every James Bond video is coming and on Sunday the next review for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, episode 6 "Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach". This is a dark one, folks.

THIS WEEK: August 15 - 21, 2022

Last week was a big week with multiple videos: first up is the new series of reviews for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on the Nerdiest Prime YouTube channel. We started with what is probably the best of the new Trek -- our hilarious dissection, and analysis of "Memento Mori" (see link above). Nerdiest Prime also got brand spanking new TikTok and Instagram accounts, with little tantalizing amuse-bouche videos highlighting the best clips of our reviews. New reviews feature the Nerdiest Prime crew (a zesty combo of Alan O'Neill, Namir Ahmed, and Luckas Cardona -- all ardent Trekkies), and are dropping on Sundays, so be sure to check them out!

A new video was posted on the Every James Bond YouTube Channel, "Every License to Kill", that is, every time a character says the phrase "license to kill" in the course of the James Bond series. This channel celebrates the characters, tropes, and recurring motifs of the film series, with new videos being posted on Fridays.

The new Filming Location video for Diamonds Are Forever, which was filmed on location in Las Vegas and Amsterdam, is in post-production and is coming immenently to the Protokino YouTube Channel. Regularly scheduled Filming Locations are returning to the channel this month. We'll tour the filming locations of iconic films Terminator, Speed, Blade Runner, and more!

THIS WEEK: AUGUST 8 - 14, 2022

So two new videos are up this week: Every "James Bond Theme" (which has already been viewed 47K times!) and TNG Review "The Last Outpost". Super happy to finally have these videos out to share with you all.

I'm currently working on Filming Locations: Diamonds Are Forever, which I shot in Las Vegas last month AND my wife was able to capture two locations in Amsterdam during a layover (thank you, Lara) to share with you all. This video is coming out on Friday, and the Filming Locations will be dropping on the Protokino YouTube Channel in the coming weeks, so look out for those. Some of the other film locations I'll be featuring this year are Terminator, Blade Runner, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Speed.

The NERDIEST PRIME reviews are back! Our hilarious (and insightful) reviews of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be posted over the next 7 weeks, starting (hopefully) this Friday, with a three-in-one episode, analyzing the first three episodes of the new series. Simultaneously more Star Trek: The Next Generation reviews are coming, continuing our analysis of season 1 of that classic series.

Look for the James Bond videos on the Every James Bond YouTube Channel, location videos on Protokino, and the Star Trek videos on the Nerdiest Prime YouTube Channel. You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram and Tiktok, I post several times a week.
